Humanitarian Engineering Summer School 2026

ESReDA is pleased to share an educational initiative promoted by Micaela Demichela and her colleagues at Politecnico di Torino.

The Humanitarian Engineering Summer School 2026 will take place from 6 to 10 July 2026 at the Politecnico di Torino (Italy). This international summer school offers a unique opportunity for students, researchers and professionals interested in applying engineering solutions to humanitarian and sustainability challenges.

This initiative has been shared with the ESReDA community by Micaela Demichela, ESReDA Treasurer and Professor at Politecnico di Torino.

What is the Humanitarian Engineering Summer School?

The Humanitarian Engineering Summer School brings together participants from different disciplines to explore how engineering can contribute to a more equitable, sustainable and resilient world.

The programme combines lectures, workshops and collaborative activities focused on real-world challenges. Participants will work with experts and peers from different countries while developing practical solutions with social impact.

Main Topics

The Humanitarian Engineering Summer School covers several key areas:

  • Water and sanitation
  • Renewable energy
  • Sustainable design
  • Health and wellbeing
  • Disaster resilience

These themes are closely connected to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the role of engineering in addressing global challenges.
